Brief: Install a brand new website, use Joomla for the underlying framework and provide owners with options for customizing content.
Implementation: I converted the graphic design comps to HTML templates first - similar to creating my own Joomla theme. Once they were approved I installed the code into the basic Joomla package. I created an area on the page for the owners to create their own content - mainly the right hand side bar. In this area they can create small widgets for marketing and SEO purposes.
The site was designed with SEO in mind and areas on the various pages were set aside for search friendly text and other content.
I wrote several custom jQuery scripts that included popups. I also installed a couple of Joomla plugins.
